SwiftRead Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2/10/2022

This notice describes the Privacy Policy that applies to all information collected or submitted when you install or use the SwiftRead application or any of the other proprietary software applications or services we provide, and when you visit our website (all of which are referred to collectively herein as "SwiftRead").

We take your privacy seriously and want you to understand exactly what information we collect, how we use that information, which pieces of information you can request us to remove, and how to contact us about this policy. Please read this policy carefully. Your continued use of SwiftRead constitutes your agreement to this policy.

Information SwiftRead collects

Personal information

You are not required to create a user account or provide any personal information in order to visit the SwiftRead website or to use the SwiftRead application. If you purchase a SwiftRead upgrade license or donate to support SwiftRead, personal information, such as name, emaill address, and payment information, is collected by our payment providers, Stripe and PayPal. Raw credit card info is never accessible to anyone at the company.

Anonymous information

SwiftRead captures anonymous usage information, including but not limited to: button clicks within SwiftRead, and SwiftRead window opens. All such data is captured anonymously and no user level data is gathered.

By default, SwiftRead does not collect the content of the web pages and documents you use SwiftRead on. If you purchase a SwiftRead upgrade license and activate SwiftRead's advanced functionalities, we may collect the content of the web pages and documents that you use SwiftRead on in order to deliver our services to you.

Analytics

SwiftRead uses analytics services, like Google Analytics, to aggregate information about traffic patterns and how our website and extension are used, for the sole purpose of improving our extension and website.

How SwiftRead uses and discloses collected information

To make SwiftRead better

We use the collected and anonymous usage and analytics information to maintain and improve the SwiftRead extension and website, and gain insight into how our services are being used. The information is only used internally.

To help SwiftRead function

SwiftRead uses descriptive information about any purchase (such as email address and license key) as well as the specific kinds of collected text data listed in "Information SwiftRead collects" to enable the functionality of certain features.

Your personal information is not for sale

SwiftRead never has and never will sell your personal information to any third party.

SwiftRead discloses personal information as required by law

SwiftRead cooperates with all valid United States law enforcement requests and court orders. If possible, we'll notify you of requests for your information using the email address stored in our system. Some circumstances prohibit us from contacting you about a request or order (e.g. an order under 18 U.S.C. § 2705(b) or § 215 of the Patriot Act). "Warrant canary": SwiftRead has never received an order under Section 215 of the Patriot Act, and if this sentence ever disappears, you'll know it's because we have received such an order -- or similar order -- and the U.S. Government made us delete it.

Keeping Information

For the information we do collect (see "Information SwiftRead Collects"), we will keep it only for as long as we need it to provide you services, manage our business or as required by law or contract.

Data security

We have agreements with third parties and have adopted other security measures in place to protect against the loss, misuse and/or unauthorized alteration of the information under our control or under the control of our service providers. Your personally identifiable information is protected by utilizing both online and offline security methods, including firewalls, passwords and restricted physical access to the places where your information is stored. Although we use industry standard practices to protect your privacy, we do not promise, and you should not expect, that your personal information or private communications will always remain free from security issues. In the event of a security breach involving your personal information, we will make any legally required disclosures to you in the most expedient time possible and without unreasonable delay, consistent with the legitimate interests of law enforcement, or any measures necessary to determine the scope of the breach and restore the reasonable integrity of the data system.

Changes and updates to this policy

SwiftRead reserves the right to change this policy for any reason, and may make small, inconsequential changes to this policy with or without notice. Each time this policy is changed we will revise the “Effective Date” at the top of this page.
